If you plan to fly the closest airport is Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) (1 hour drive) or Sacramento International Airport (SMF) (2 hour drive).
Drive (Reno, NV to Sierra College Tahoe-Truckee Campus in Truckee, CA - 45 mins)
Drive West-bound on Interstate 80 (I80) and take the CA-89 South exit towards Lake Tahoe (185). Continue through two round abouts, then turn Left on College Trail and follow to the main parking lot.
Drive (Truckee to Donner Summit)
Drive West-bound on I80 and take the Soda Springs exit (174). Turn Left and go 2.3 miles through town. Turn Left on Bunny Hill Dr. and drive the single lane road to the end of the plowed road.
In the event of bad weather, I80 (west and east-bound) can close with short notice or you may experience delayed travel times due to routine hwy. chain control check points. To pass these check points you either need to have a 4W drive car, snow tires, or properly installed tire chains.
We recommend following California Highway Patrol (CHP) Truckee and CSSL social media accounts for the most up to date road and current weather conditions. Use the webcams and alerts to gauge driving conditions and restrictions. All Wheel-Drive (AWD) vehicles are generally permitted and should have good all season or winter tires.
